Mount Olive United Methodist Women

Purpose

United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship, and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

History

Mount Olive United Methodist Women was organized in 1940 as the Woman’s Society of Christian Service with 60 charter members. Today the unit at Mount Olive is part of the largest denominational faith organization for women with approximately 800,000 members whose mission is fostering spiritual growth, developing leaders, and advocating for justice.

In 2019, United Methodist Women around the world celebrated the 150th anniversary of the organization.

Our Meetings

Meetings are where members learn about mission and social justice. It is also a place for fellowship, worship, and prayer. Through mission giving and projects, our local unit supports missions in the community, throughout the United States, and in more than 100 countries around the world. Any woman who commits herself to the PURPOSE of United Methodist Women and to engage in mission, study, personal growth, and social action can join. You don’t have to be United Methodist or meet an age requirement to be a member. To learn more, see the Baltimore-Washington Conference United Methodist Women and UnitedMethodistWomen.org.
