Mount Olive United Women in Faith

Mission

We seek to connect and nurture women through Christian spiritual formation, leadership development, creative fellowship and education so that they can inspire, influence and impact local and global communities.

Vision

We are a powerful, fearless force driven by God’s love and united in sisterhood. With a focus on women, children and youth, we act for justice and transform communities.

We face the realities we see in the world, even when they are not the ones we would like to see. However, our goal is not to bear witness simply to harms but also to God’s love by acting boldly to change those harms.

History

Mount Olive United Methodist Women was organized in 1940 as the Woman’s Society of Christian Service with 60 charter members. Today the unit at Mount Olive is part of the largest denominational faith organization for women with approximately 800,000 members whose mission is fostering spiritual growth, developing leaders, and advocating for justice.

In 2019, United Methodist Women around the world celebrated the 150th anniversary of the organization.  The organization became United Women in Faith in 2022.

Our Meetings

Meetings are where members learn about mission and social justice. It is also a place for fellowship, worship, and prayer. Through mission giving and projects, our local unit supports missions in the community, throughout the United States, and in more than 100 countries around the world. Any woman who commits herself to the PURPOSE of United Women in Faith and to engage in mission, study, personal growth, and social action can join. You don’t have to be United Methodist or meet an age requirement to be a member. To learn more, see the United Women In Faith | Baltimore-Washington Conference UMC (bwcumc.org) and United Women in Faith | Love in Action (uwfaith.org).
