Welcome to Mount Olive Where We Are “Serving God’s Creation”
Our goal is to welcome everyone as a child of God and as a part of our church family. Our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ by proclaiming the Gospel and joyfully reaching out in love to nurture, teach, and heal in Jesus’ name.
Frequently Asked Questions
When are your worship services?
Our Sunday 8:00 am service is held in the Historic Chapel and our 10:30 am service is in the Main Sanctuary. (The 8:00 am service is not being held at this time.)
Where do I go when I arrive?
To reach the Historic Chapel, look for the stone staircase and enter through the doors facing the cemetery. The chapel is not handicap accessible. Parking spaces are opposite the driveway next to the cemetery and continue when you pass the chapel door and staircase. The Main Sanctuary entrance is at the back of the church where there is a large parking lot. The entrance has a brick sidewalk and two glass doors.
What are the services like?
The 8:00 am service is a warm, inviting, 50-minute service. There is no choir; our director of music provides piano accompaniment as the congregation sings. Scripture is read by the pastor. The 10:30 am service in the main sanctuary includes a choir, and a liturgist reads the scripture and leads the congregation in reciting a creed or a responsive reading.
What should I wear to a service?
Mount Olive UMC is a diverse congregation where most are dressed casually, but a few choose to wear their Sunday best. Feel free to dress in a way that is comfortable for you.
What about Sunday School?
Adult Sunday School/Bible Study is at 9:15 am on Sunday. Children’s Sunday School is during the 10:30 am service. There is a Thursday night Adult Bible Study.
What is the easiest way to meet people?
In addition to Sunday School, other opportunities to meet people include serving with the Loaves and Fishes Ministry or the Green Team. Visit our Ministries page for information about ministries you may want to join.
